La Joya: the Jewel of the Valley- Week 25 (8/26/19)

Image
Touch of Faith by Yongsung Kim I kicked a dog this week. While riding my bike. Ah, thrilling. La Joya is my new area! This week has been crazy! The area was previously combined with another to make one bigger area, but now it's been separated again, so we're working a LOT to find new people because they didnt work in this half of their old area very much... There are stray dogs EVERYWHERE and there are SO many. A group of like 20 chase us at least once a day; We're on bikes. That's cool. It's been a lot of fun though, biking through storms, heat, and killer doggos. Crashing parties, asking for water, my comp lost his phone. Elder Quispe and I were in the MTC together too! So that's really cool. There are a lot of really nice people down here, but I dont have anything TOO cool spiritual wise this week. Hopefully next week we'll have some more people that we're teaching! I'm working currently on memorizing the book of Mark in...

Fishers of Men, by Mary Ann Wright Hi! I'm really busy..... BECAUSE IM TRANSFERRING. I've been in Pharr, Texas for about four and a half months and now I'll be headed over to La Joya! It's going to be a ton of fun! I hope! :) This week has been SO crazy... -We helped this random old man cut down a tree... -We helped some people move.... and they gave us BOOTS. LIKE REALLY, REALLY NICE BOOTS. (Mine look so good, they black leather and apparently ostrich?????) -We made cake! (Finally) -We had interviews with our mission president for the first time! They went really well. Hes a super nice guy, and hes honestly always so friendly. -Christie and I matched pants one day (just fo' fun) -We've also found sooooo many prepared people this week. I'm honestly a little sad to be leaving.... I really hope that everything goes well with them! They're really cool people and the Lord has placed them in our path, and I was lucky to meet them! -We...

A Gift- Week 23 (8/12/19)

"The Sower" by Mike Moyers Well. Hello. This week was good! We: A: Made more brownies (no, I dont have an addiction I just like brownies okay? And nO I HAVENT GAINED WEIGHT I JUST SOMETIMES HAVE A LITTLE BIT OF A PANZITA IF I EAT TOO MUCH) The brownies have been good :) B: Went on an exchange this week!!! I went up to the Zone Leaders area and spent the day with Elder Faupula. It was SO good. I honestly learned so much. Hes a great missionary, and I think I learned quite a bit from him in just that short time. When I came back, Elder Christie even said that he felt that I had changed! So I guess I'm on the road to improvement everyone C: Went out and knocked a LOT. A lot of our progressing people have become really, really busy now that school is starting up. Some of them are genuinely still interested though, so its not too bad for them. However, others are just not really ready right now. One of the guys we're teaching right now JUST had his first son! ...

A Surprise (not really) Visit- Week 22 (8/5/19)

Image
Well this week was simultaneously amazing and very boring Haha! Unfortunately this email will have to be short, but my dad came and visited me last Tuesday! I got permission from my mission president to have him come down for one day. We spent it out having lessons and teaching! It was a ton of fun and I was super happy to be able to see him again. (Hopefully you learned something Dad Haha amo) The talk in this past conference, Exercising our Spiritual Muscles, was a big influence in helping me prepare and plan for the visit. Maybe my mom can send out some pictures if anyone wants to see them? I read a book that chloe sent me called The Great Apostasy by Elder Talmage, and it was sooooo good as well. Highly recommend reading it if you're interested in what happened to the church after Jesus Christ and the Apostles died. I also got kinda sick this week (rip) but I went out and still worked! It wasn't too bad but um I've lost my faith in the medical systems down her...

Book Are Pretty Cool- Week 21 (7/29/19)

Image
Joseph and Hyrum Smith Amid dead memes and assorted accidental naps, this week was good! Sister Willardson has some SUPPERRR good memes that she gets from her sister, it's been refreshing to have that little bit of normality again. Um, this week I've also been VERY tired, and I may have fallen asleep during Spanish study.... I think it's because we've been getting up at 6 everyday now to be able to study half an hour extra. Cuz we have too much to learn and not enough time haha. Alright, I'll try to keep this email short, but this week overall there were a few really cool parts. A) we made brownies. :) B) during a lesson we had, we asked the investigator to read a scripture. The Spirit was so strong that she couldnt even get halfway through before she started crying. It was really touching because she just laughed and apologized and said, "I have no idea what's happening." ... We knew what was happening lol. C) I finished Jesus the Chr...

A Whole Lotta Mumbo Jumbo- Week 20 (7/22/19)

Image
"The Call" by Jorge Cocco Santangelo So. Hi. I have been absolutely HORRID at keeping up in my journal this week so I kinda dont really remember what happened or when it happened! Sorry!!! I'll just relate the pieces I do remember: -We did some yard work service for an older sister in the ward this week, it was hot and we biked two miles to get to her house so that was fun :) -We had a zone conference about better contacting (first meeting people) and it was pretty fun, I shared some stuff and I played piano and it was a good time. For prelude, a sister played cello and another sister played piano with me so that we had a four hand piano improv going with cello accompaniment and it was super extra but a ton of fun. -Of Monsters And Men (a music group I really like) did an album??? Covering???? Songs?? From??? The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints'??? Hymnbook??? The songs are SOOO good, and it's been so relaxing to listen to them. -I got my...

T R A N S F E R S- Week 19 (7/15/19)

Image
Cรณmo anda todos????? This week has been CRAZY. Elder Wright went HOME finally (ahhhhhhhh) and so I got a new companion!!!!! His name is Elder Christie, hes from Seattle, has about a year and a half in the mission, and was JUST my zone leader so that's super cool. Well, let's move on to the week shall we? So we start the week with Tuesday, where I say goodbye to basically everyone who I'm friends with (lol) and we change a TON of stuff. My companion, my district, and the majority of my zone honestly. It was super fun seeing everyone but I'm gonna miss the people who left. Wednesday, um, idk if anything happened on Wednesday whoops. Ah we had a really good meeting getting to know everyone. Thursday was pretty fine. The new sister in our district (Sister Willardson) showed us a game where if we are drinking something in our right hand, someone can say the phrase "Water Buffulo". If they do, then you HAVE to chug whatever you're drinking. It'...

๐Ÿ˜ท๐Ÿค’๐Ÿ’Š- Week 18 (7/8/19)

Image
Colorful Creator by Lance Brown Howdy howdy This week definitely was overshadowed by one thing and one thing only; Elder Wright got sick. Like, really sick. Wednesday we didn't work at all, which most people would think would be good right? Wrong. Not only was I lowkey stressed that Elder Wright was dying, but I was also really, really, really, bored. So. I started reading Jesus the Christ. It's such a good book. It really helps to shed light on Jesus' ministry as it really happened. Sometimes in the scriptures, with the old language and with the random events happening, it can be kind of hard to see how it all happened, but with this book it makes it really easy to imagine it as it happened. But well besides that I just kinda slept that day and chilled while Elder Wright died in his bed. Um the rest of the week was pretty chill. We went to Texas Roadhouse to celebrate Wright going home. Teaching wise we had a really good lesson with this family named ...

Jehovah Creates the Earth (Jesus Christ Creates the Earth and the Heavens), by Walter Rane Hi everyone!!! Not really sure if anyone reads these but hello haha I'm suppppppeeerrr sorry that my email last week didn't send! I tried to include some pictures, I think that that's why it didn't send. But my week this week has been insane! Last Monday right after pday ended we talked to a person who has been going to church for over 20 years and just hasn't wanted to be baptized! His wife and both kids are active members, but he just never felt like he should be baptized. Finally, for some reason, he felt like it was time, so we went over and all last week we worked with him and he was baptized on Thursday!!!!!!! It was super awesome, I dont think I'll be able to send pictures this week (I dont have any on my phone) but I'll try to get some next week from someone. Also on Monday last week, there was a MASSIVE rainstorm, and a lot of the valley flooded. W...

I was a little surprised I didn't kill anyone .... Also A woman we met during a door contact asked to pray for us and then invoked the power of the priesthood of Aaron soooooo that was absolutely crazy cuuuzzz Hebrews 5:4 But I'll send some pictures along, Have a great week you guys! Keep doing your best, y'all've got this! Yee Haw, Elder Reginato PS ah yes the picture um we went bowling today and I won with a score of 105 yeet (Post note: SUPPPERRR sorry that this didn't send last week, I'm not really sure what happened!
