Raymondville- Week 97

Image
The Lord's Errand, by Kate Lee   This place reminds me so much of Sinton haha!! It's awesome to be with a companion who I already love. I dont have too much to say besides be patient, love others without waiting for a reason, and just be kind. I love you all!!!!!! Message me whenever!! E.Reginato

Last Time Around- Week 96

Image
Not By Bread Alone...by Michael Dudash Hey Everyone!! Not a TON has happened (okay a little bit) but here I am, on my last transfer! In 5 weeks I'm headed back home. It's really crazy to think that all this has happened so fast, but here it is. Transfers happened on tuesday, and for my last transfer I actually came back up here to the North!!! I'm in Robstown right now, and get this: IM WITH ELDER CANNEGIETER AGAIN!! I've never even heard of someone going back with a missionary that they trained, but President let it happen haha. We've had a ton of fun. He actually got covid a few weeks ago, so as a precaution I didnt actually get here until this last Friday, but it's still been a bit of a roller coaster. I loved all the people in my last area. In particular, my family of recent converts that I helped baptize. I miss them a lot. I'm so happy for the opportunity I had to be able to help them progress on the covenant path. I love seeing the changes that come...

A Prodigal Son?- Week 92 (12/14/20)

Image
Why, hello!  Long time no talk. I'm alive. I love you all. November was great. We had the wonderful opportunity of baptizing San juanita and her daughters, [a family of 6], and it was absolutely amazing. Theyve come to church every week since then, and we go over at least 2 times a week haha... they're basically my little sisters at this point. Our zone broke a watermark! Things were readjusted as a lot of our zone ended up changing, both areas and people, and so we broke the new watermark!! It was very exciting. I can't believe that I'm already in December. I'm at 22 months! I'm so old. We've done a lot of exchanges with other missionaries, and suffice it to say, I'm shocked sometimes when I think of how far I've come. Many of the members of our zone are greenies [missionaries with between 0 and 12 weeks of experience] and being able to teach and talk with them makes me ponder and think a lot. A few of them will sit down and ask me questions about t...

November 2020- Week 85 (10/26/20)

Image
Okay everyone. Hello! I'm alive haha! Things have been super good. Right now I'm in a trio; im training a new missionary named Elder Mann, and im training a new Zone Leader [yes, im still a ZL while in a trio???] named Elder Kemker This month, we're really focusing on helping our missionaries to commit and improve their desire. As well, we're focusing on recognizing miracles, on being worthy to receive them, and then on being able to properly respond to them!  It's been a really interesting transfer so far, and we're having a lot of fun, albeit things have definitely been difficult. As well, this month I'm going to be trying something. In order to help me focus, I'm not going to be using my email for the rest of November. I'm going to be trying to focus more on the work and doing my best to consecrate my mind and time. If you message and I don't respond, please dont be offended! I love you! Hopefully some cool things come! Wish us luck!

~h~m~m~m~ Week 83 (10/12/20)

Tree of Life, by Kazuto Uota   Well, today has been the least pdayish pday of my entire mission haha All day we've been working, so that's kind of sucked, but alas, the work must move on. My companion is going AP! Hes going to be the "Assistant to the President", a big boy. I have NO time to talk. I love you all. I'm so happy to be a missionary, and I'm thankful for the opportunity I've had to be here. Be safe! Message me if you need anything. :) Elder Reginato

Sorry Lol- Week 81 (9/28/20)

Image
Hi!    Haha I'm not too sure what to send on this. It's been a long time since I've sent out a general email, but I figured that was chilling since most people don't email me anyways hahahahaha.    Elder Burgon and I have baptized three times this month, it's been so exciting. They were really miracles. Our zone baptized the most in the mission this month, and the most this zone has baptized since quarantine started;    We've done tons of exchanges (where my companion and I exchange and become companions with different missionaries for a day) and it's been fun! I really enjoyed being able to go around with them, teach them a bit, and see how they're doing overall.    I miss you all! Hopefully you've been safe and aren't sick.  I wish you all the best of luck. :) See you kinda soon! E.Reginato

Welcome to the Big Boy Table- Week 78 (9/7/20)

Image
Hey everyone! Long time no talk, imma give you the speedy highlights: -Elder Wiberg and I found some AWESOME people we were teaching -I got TRANSFERRED. I'm not BACK in Mission, which is right next to McAllen. -Im a Zone Leader now! A true big boy. Crazy. -My new companion, Elder Burgon, and I actually white washed this new area as the Zone Leaders here so that's crazy. We've been working super hard though and we're actually going to be having THREE BAPTISMS THIS WEEK. We're so excited -Last week we had MLC, which is a big mission meeting for the leadership, and it was super cool even though we basically just got roasted for not doing a very good job haha. We deserved it tho -Ive been reading this really cool book with essays about scholarship and other stuff and I've been really enjoying it -I miss yall! I definitely miss my last area and district too. They were super cool. I miss Elder Wiberg a ton, but as they say, "The show must go on." Alrighty ...

It Only Took *counts fingers* 9 Weeks.- Week 75 (8/17/20)

Image
Danny had his baptism this week!!!!! It only took 9 weeks of waiting, but it finally happened. The baptism was so great; He said that he felt different the moment he exited the water... He bore his testimony afterwards to finish the meeting and talked about how happy he was that he met us, and how the Lord had blessed him. It was so nice to hear. My Moms birthday was this week, happy Bday Mum! (Also super late happy bday to Braden) ((I try my best)) I've been reading a lot, and I really like some of the principles I've been learning. One of my favorite principles is the true version of "Karma": The Law of Reaping and Sowing. Whatever you do, you will reap the consequences. There's a quote from one of the books that says, "'The Law of Reaping and Sowing.' The grindstone grinds slowly, but incredibly fine." Sometimes the results of our actions take some time to manifest, but they will always come. Being a District Leader is a lot of fun, as I enj...

Amount of Barbeque Sauce Consumed: Too Much- Week 73 (8/3/20)

Draper Temple by Alan Fullmer   Well squad, not too much to talk about this week. Our branch became a ward, and I stretched my neck and totally pinched something so I couldnt turn my head lol. Umm Laredo is nice and warm. Its rained a little bit, but I think that's basically it until the next hurricane comes. The people (person) we're teaching is doing really well. Hopefully we'll have a baptism this week! I've been studying quite a bit out of the older ensigns, and here's a poem from 1995 that I liked. "A Prayer By Sandra Ailey Petree Father, Send me light— Send me white reflections of the sun Off pristine temple spires Bedecked with blossoms Brilliant red in sun Light. Send me Piercing love so sharp It takes my breath. Send me Pure intelligence that sears the dark Of earth-worn wisdom And heals the wounds of doubt And loneliness And deep fatigue. “I thirst,” he said. And so do I. Father, Send me Light." Love yall, be safe. Have fun. Message me wheneve...

Your Local Genius- Week 72 (7/27/20)

Image
Hey Everyone!! I've not been the best at emailing... I think it's been 2, 3 weeks? since the last email? Sorry about that. Things have been pretty interesting lately. For Example: -Coronavirus spikes here in the south of Texas, hospitals near capacity, going back into lockdown etc etc -A literal HURRICANE passed by here. Hurricane Hanna didn't hit Laredo (where I am currently) too bad, but other areas got hit and are definitely struggling a little... My last area, Raymondville, flooded quite a bit and a lot of the people there didn't have power for most of the day yesterday. Our apartment did pretty well, but for SOME reason we had ONE breaker overload so the lights in our bathroom went out lol...  Taking a shower in the dark is a bit of a struggle but I guess it makes an everyday activity a little more interesting? -I've been working on piano quite a bit, and have got down the first few pages of the Sonata Pathetique, as well as most of Chopin's The Revolutio...

Lare"DOPE"- Week 69 (7/6/20)

Image
Hey Everyone!!!!!! Long time no talk! Things have been good.  I really enjoy it over here so far. My companion is named Elder Wiberg, he is AWESOME. Hes reassigned from Chile actually.  We have someone with a baptismal commitment, so we're SUPER excited!! Things are moving, aunque slow lol Imma head out but I love all of you!!!! I hope you have a great day and that things are going GREAT. Be safe, Have fun, Elder Reginato

Transfer 11- Week 67 (6/22/20)

Image
Snapshot of TMM Father's Day video:)   I think... Anyways. I'm being sent away! Again! I just got here to Raymondville but I found out last night that the President is moving me to the other side of the mission.... I'll be in Laredo for the next little bit. I've heard lots of good things, but I'm a little anxious nonetheless. These past few weeks have been good! We've been trying to find people to teach and doing our best to study hard. I've been doing a weekly Facebook live, but we're not sure how that'll continue, so we'll have to see. We're hopefully going to find a way to continue doing it. Something interesting is that my companion from FOREVER ago, Elder Quispe, is replacing me here!! I'm so excited for him, hes a great guy and a great missionary. For the moment I dont have too much to say and unfortunately I've been a bit busy, but I'm going to make sure to let you all know how Laredo is next week. :) Love you all, be safe!...

"Wanna make Jesus dry heave? Be pessimistic."- Week 65 (6/8/20)

Image
Holy One by Julie Rogers Happy June everyone! I've been writing emails closer to every other week now; things are definitely a lot slower down here. We're trying hard to continue teaching and most of what we do is technology based, though we are allowed to offer service now which is SUPER nice! Something my companion and I have been doing lately is every Sunday night at 7 PM we do a livestream on facebook! It's a short course going through the Articles of Faith; we use them as a short guide to explore some of the beliefs of our church. If you guys wanna learn some neat stuff or maybe just see my slightly irritating but handsome face then I recommend you come watch! Just look me up or message me on facebook and I can make sure to invite you to the livestream! Oh what to talk about. Things are going well in Raymondville, transfers are actually tomorrow! We've had the opportunity to listen to different speakers these past few weeks, including Elder Soares and speaker Hank ...

Baptizing Raimond in Raymondville: A Highlight- Week 63 (5/25/20)

Image
Hi everyone!!!! Long time no email, I know, sorry about that. These past few weeks have honestly been so fast that I've barely been able to keep up! I'll just give you some highlights: -we were able to baptize Raimond! Hes one of the funniest kids I've ever met and he LOVES the 10 commandments. Everytime we talk he just wants to go over the ten commandments again lol, it's hilarious. As far as he is concerned, number 5 is "dont get spanked" and number 7 is "dont take your ring off in the shower" hahahaha. -i painted the outside of a house. It was hot. It's nice that we can do service now though, so we're stuck inside less than usual. -i painted a little this week, so you'll probably see a video or two of me painting on facebook! -some members from Sinton came ALLLLL the wayyyyyyy down just to visit me.   I miss them a ton, they're so nice!! -sanchez and I have consumed an inhumane amount of pizza rolls and Arizona drink... capri sun...

A Short List of Things That Dont Exist: 1) Time- Week 61 (5/11/20)

Image
A Mother's Faith by Kate Lee Wow, I've been in Raymondville for two weeks!!! That's insane!!! I feel like I was leaving just yesterday from Sinton... I like it here a lot. We've come into contact with quite a few people, and we have a teaching pool that's larger than back in Sinton. If everything goes according to plan, which it never does lol, we should have a baptism this Sunday! I'm big excited, it's been too long since I had a baptism. Happy Mother's Day to everyone as well! Yesterday in sacrament, I talked a little bit about how remarkable any mother is: They choose to willing put their life on the line to bring into existence someone they have never before met. I think it's just an incredible show of charity and love, and it surprises me that there are ANY mothers who willingly had more children after they experienced their first pregnancy hahahaha To all the mothers, thank you guys so much! I know you often dont feel appreciated, but just know...

I Am The Rollie Pollie King- Week 60 (5/4/20)

Image
The Lord is my Shepherd by Yongsung Kim Aight so, like I said, we live in the Senior Missionaries old house. That's a positive.  🏼 This place is wack. I get super weird dreams, first off, so that's like kinda a positive kinda a negative idk. 🏼 🏼 ALSO, I have never seen more Rollie Pollies in my ENTIRE LIFE. I have NO idea how they come inside, but they're everywhere. Baby ones, adult ones, grandpa ones, tiny skinny ones, big thicc ones, I literally don't understand... I'll sweep, turn around, and there will be an entire other group like "ay where our friends at". I told my comp that animals have souls, thus, those bugs are now in the spirit world and now he stops and makes a sad face before we sweep them up into the trash.  So, that's like, a negative, I guess? Overall Raymondville is super cool tho, theres more food nearby and another set of missionaries lives in the same city so it's cool to see them every once in a while. We've been try...

Transfer 10: Double Digits- Week 59 (4/27/20)

Image
Spreading Truth and Light,  by Larry Wade Well, its official, I'm out of Sin City. My new area is a few hours south, somewhere called Raymondville. My new companion is Elder Sanchez; Hes from Salt Lake, and hes pretty chill. His last companion was SUPER, SUPER strict, so being with me is going to be a very different experience haha. I'm still district leader, and theres a companionship of sisters who are pretty cool, so that's exciting. Raymondville is notorious for having the worst apartment in the whole mission, nicknamed "The Shack". That's literally all I knew about Raymondville, so I was pretty sad when I heard about coming, but apparently, becauseoff Corona, the elder couple that lived here went home and we moved into their house!!! Thank you Kung Flu.  🏻 🏻 🏻 I think my "spiritual thought" for the day will be super simple. President Nelson said in Conference that, "The Lord loves effort." I know that there are a lot of people who...

Quarantine Time- Week 58 (4/20/20)

Image
Hi everyone!  I know its been a little while, but things arent exactly super intense here right now haha. We've basically just been in the apartment, trying to keep ourselves busy. Luckily we've been able to find some stuff: -im making a quilt!!! I'm not very good at sewing lol -im reading some books! -d r a w i n g -~p~u~z~z~l~e~s~ Things are cool! Let me know if you want some help with anything, granted I have to be able to do it over the phone, but still!! Love you all, please be safe with this virus, and have fun, but inside!! Elder Reginato

Does Time Really Exist?- Week 56 (4/6/20)

Image
~Isa "helping" with Quarantine Shopping~   Hi Everyone! I think I forgot to send an email last week.... sorry about that...  Everything feels like its blurring together to be honest. We're still in quarantine over here, so you guys havent missed any exciting developments, dont worry. We're trying to continue having some lessons with members and recent converts, and conference was a BLAST, I'm super proud of the Gutierrez family who ended up watching it. I hope you all were able to listen to conference this year and have your testimonies of the Prophet of the Restoration and our living Prophet strengthened.  I loved Elder Oaks' talk on the Plan of Salvation Sunday Afternoon. Everyone, PLEASE be practicing common sense safety measures to make sure you dont get sick or pass this on to anyone else. Yes, this does kinda suck to be honest but I'd rather that than have people die.  I believe in you. You can do. Just watch Netflix or something I dont know Overall,...

Coronavirus And Me: A Short Story- Week 54 (3/23/20)

Image
Light of the World by Scott Sumner Hey Everyone!! I'm doing great still! We've been placed in "self isolation", which is basically quarantine with permission to leave "sometimes". A lot of missionaries from my mission are heading home, including anyone who has any severe illnesses or health problems, and elders who have served for more than 21 months. I'm sad to see a lot of these people go, but theyve done a great job, and I hope they'll stay safe. We're a little bored, but it's been nice to take a short break. Hopefully things will pick back up pretty soon. Prayers for anyone who's sick, I know that covid-19 has been something that can be very stressful to some people because of their own health or someone's they know. Let me know if any of you get bored and want to learn about a church topic! Wed love to start teaching some stuff. Love you all, Be safe, Elder Reginato
