"Wanna make Jesus dry heave? Be pessimistic."- Week 65 (6/8/20)
Holy One by Julie Rogers
Happy June everyone!
I've been writing emails closer to every other week now; things are definitely a lot slower down here.
We're trying hard to continue teaching and most of what we do is technology based, though we are allowed to offer service now which is SUPER nice!
Something my companion and I have been doing lately is every Sunday night at 7 PM we do a livestream on facebook! It's a short course going through the Articles of Faith; we use them as a short guide to explore some of the beliefs of our church.
If you guys wanna learn some neat stuff or maybe just see my slightly irritating but handsome face then I recommend you come watch! Just look me up or message me on facebook and I can make sure to invite you to the livestream!
Oh what to talk about.
Things are going well in Raymondville, transfers are actually tomorrow!
We've had the opportunity to listen to different speakers these past few weeks, including Elder Soares and speaker Hank Smith! It's been so fun to hear them and so interesting to learn from them.
Of all the things I've learned in this past little bit of time, I've revolutionized my understanding of faith.
Faith is not just a belief, nor is it just an action, but it's an amazing mixture of both those things.
To have faith is to understand that because something is done, will be done, or has been done, THEN something happens, will happen, or has happened.
To have faith in Jesus Christ is to understand that if we do what He asks of us, THEN we will be able to be reunited with Him, our Father in Heaven, and the rest of our human family after we pass away. It's remarkable. Faith is the basic understanding of how the entire universe works.
If you didnt have faith that going to work would result in you earning money, would you go to work?
If you didnt have faith that the action of breathing would continue your existence, would you breath?
No!
What type of life is a life without faith? And more importantly, what type of life is a life without faith in a higher power? A belief in our Father in Heaven and in Jesus Christ is essential to a meaningful life.
When you work on your faith, focus on an action that you will do and on what you expect that action to bring about. Remember that although you cannot control how the Lord blesses you, I know He takes into account what you ask for.
I love you all, be safe, have fun, talk to you when I talk to you!
