Your Local Genius- Week 72 (7/27/20)

Hey Everyone!!

I've not been the best at emailing... I think it's been 2, 3 weeks? since the last email? Sorry about that.
Things have been pretty interesting lately.
For Example:
-Coronavirus spikes here in the south of Texas, hospitals near capacity, going back into lockdown etc etc
-A literal HURRICANE passed by here. Hurricane Hanna didn't hit Laredo (where I am currently) too bad, but other areas got hit and are definitely struggling a little... My last area, Raymondville, flooded quite a bit and a lot of the people there didn't have power for most of the day yesterday.
Our apartment did pretty well, but for SOME reason we had ONE breaker overload so the lights in our bathroom went out lol...
Taking a shower in the dark is a bit of a struggle but I guess it makes an everyday activity a little more interesting?
-I've been working on piano quite a bit, and have got down the first few pages of the Sonata Pathetique, as well as most of Chopin's The Revolutionary, and I JUST started on Chopin's etude opus 10 no 3. I've had it stuck in my head for the past few days lol, but I'm getting it down.
-I CRASHED MY BIKE.
"Regi, haven't you only used your bike 1 other time?..."
Yes. Yes I had.
I jumped a curb, hit a pothole, and my tire went one way while my body went forward lol, which resulted in me hitting the pavement. Joy.
I cut up my hand and my knees a little bit, but nothing too bad. I DID pop my tire though somehow, so that was fun.
Great to know that apparently "bike riding" is not necessarily a skill I still possess.
-These past few days we've been playing ping pong in the morning for part of our workouts and I, Am, KILLING it. I'm getting pretty good ngl.
I might represent the USA for ping pong olympics pretty soon, I don't know...
Just saying watch for me is all.
-We're trying our best to teach people but honestly some people are "old containers" and "new wine" just doesn't work well. (biblical reference)
For example, someone asked me, "Are you perfectly keeping all the commandments Mormon Jesus gave you so you can earn your own Kolob?"
We had been talking back and forth for a little while, and I had just proved a lot of his points wrong on a scriptural basis so he decided to start insulting the church... I saw it wasn't going anywhere and so I told him he had just won the award for "Most Ignorant Thing I've Heard All Day" award.
He was not pleased lol
-I had a pretty interesting doctrinal question and I started reaching out to a few people and I was eventually referred to a Professor at BYU who spent a little bit with me and helped review my questions and gave me AMAZING references for them. Eventually he gave me part of a book he had written for me to read and it was super cool.
It was nice to make some new friends who are actual experts in some of these fields.

Other than that, we were supposed to have a baptism yesterday but it keeps getting moved back.
Fingers crossed for this week.

Love you all!!!
I wish you the best of luck and hope you're all having fun.
Stay safe, don't do anything dumb pls.
Message me whenever
