"Hi *cough* I'm a missiona- *cough* from the church *cough*, you know what *cough* Here's a card."- Week 43 (12/30/19)

Merry Christmas!
And a happy new year!!!!!!!
This past week was very interesting.
I was sick.
Pretty much all week.
It started kinda on tuesday, but we went to the doctor on thursday. Long story short, they gave me some steroids, a pat on the back, and said, "just stay in until sunday."
So that's basically what we did. We tried to go out and visit a few people here and there but I had a really bad cough and I was super congested, which meant that i had long nights where i couldnt sleep very much, so I was always exhausted during the day.
Being sick aside, on christmas we went to the Hernandez' house! They cooked a TONNNN of meat and it was SO good. They let us spend some time with them and we played a few games, they gave us a stocking, we gave them a present we had for them, and then we went back home. Christmas was okay but, very different from what I'm used to.
We had one of our investigators get married on saturday though! That was a ton of fun.
It was at a little nondenominational christian church and the pastor that married them was a woman. I dont know what was funnier: the fact that she would say "amen hallelujah" after every sentence or the fact that our investigator literally said "can I get married here or should one of you guys do the ceremony?"
Sunday, we finally had church with our "group."
I did a special musical number, which was nice. It felt good to just sit down and play some piano.
We had one of the high council members come and give a talk so I got off the hook there but then I had to teach the entire second hour by myself lol....
I gave a nice little lesson on 1 Nephi 8.
This week for some reason I found myself studying 2 Samuel, and in particular the story of King David. I had never really realized how sad of a story it was.
With the institute manual I'm able to really get a bit of a deeper look into these stories which helps to make them more real.
Lots of stories in the scriptures are super interesting once you start learning more about them.
I love you all.
With new years this week, remember that it's a great time to just make up your mind about new commitments. Leave behind something that you dont like and start doing something you want to.
Learn how to draw. Or how to knit. Or how to bake.
This year is only going to be as good as you make it.
Be safe, have fun,
See you when I see you,
Elder Reginato
