"Vietnam, Vietnam"- Week 14 (6/10/19)

This email will be short, but worth your time nonetheless.
(Or maybe it won't be who knows I'm just tryna help okay?)

This week we knocked sooooooooooooooooooo much.
It was over a hundred degrees EVERY day, and we would always (for some reason) go out and knock during the hottest time of the day. :)
With my white shirt on, I felt like olaf.
Melting like a dumb little snowman out in the heat.
:)

But we found a ton of cool people! Everyone is so nice here.
My title comes from the fact that we knocked a door and a small, old lady came out quickly and quietly speaking what we THOUGHT was Spanish.
After a minute or two of awkward "hermana que?????" And "umm somos missioneros" I finally understood that she was trying to say she was vietnamese.
First question.
Why are these people here in what is basically northern Mexico?
Second question.
Why. Why would you answer the door if you dont speak English or Spanish. Who are you expecting to come by for a surprise visit at 4 o clock in the evening on a Sunday.
Alright continuing though.
I looked at this short, old, yet kind lady and motioned for the number one. The I motioned as if I was eating noodles, I held up two thumbs and said "Phu is very good." I'm not sure why i thought she would be impressed with my knowledge of vietnamese food, but this lady stopped for a second before recognizing what I was saying. Then she smiled, ran inside and started yelling to someone about "phu". I saw her begin rummaging through her fridge, and I was SOOO nervous. Did this poor old woman think I had knocked on her door and demanded that she make me food??
Luckily her son came and he spoke some English. We cleared up the misunderstanding and promptly left because they were Buddhist, had never heard of Jesus Christ, and were not interested at all.
Honestly, so weird.

But not too much else.
We've met some really cool people, some really interesting people, and some really not interested people Haha.

People here call me "Regi". Everytime I hear it I wonder if Nate, Ethan, or Josh are behind me, and sometimes I'll look around for a second. It's funny, but it makes me miss each them just a little bit more.

I'm glad for the opportunity I have had to come on a mission. I know that it has blessed my life for the better, and that I'm going to be a better friend, son, husband, and hopefully father one day because of it.

I love all y'all,
Praying for you continually.
If I didn't respond this week I'll respond next week I promise. <3
Sinceramente,
Elder Reginato

P-Day Fun
